Birds and Dinosaurs: Amber-Encased Feathers Yield New Insights

For a time in the 1990’s, the world was intrigued by the idea of finding ancient organisms trapped in amber, thanks to the Jurassic Park movies. After some much-needed debunking about the realities of cloning dinosaurs from ancient DNA supplemented with that that of a modern amphibian (which aren’t even amniotes), the whole thing was seen as a clever but thoroughly fictional plot device.
