Faces – Young Scientist Profile: Ryadh Alkhareif
Meet Ryadh Alkhareif, young economist from Saudi Arabia.
In Faces we portray the young scientists of the Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings and give them an open forum to talk about their research and everything else that is important to them. Everybody should feel encouraged to also share their own thoughts and stories.
On his research interests:
“My research focuses on alternative economic stability indicators, and outlines the methods for constructing proper monetary and financial indicators known as ‘Divisia indexes’. Maintaining proper measures of monetary aggregates is of particular importance for economic policies. The Divisia monetary indexes are designed to measure accurately the liquidity in the economy by assigning different weights to different financial assets according to their usefulness in transactions. My research is highly relevant to economists interested in monetary policy and the construction of core inflation indicators and proper monetary indexes, in accordance with aggregation and index number theory.”
On the challenges of an economist’s life:
“Life, in general, is full of obstacles and challenges. If there is a will, there is a way. And I believe that with a clear vision and strong commitment, people can achieve their goals-no matter how hard they are!”
On his road to Lindau:
“The Governor of the Saudi Arabian Monetary Agency (SAMA), Dr. Fahad Al-Mubarak, has nominated me to participate in the Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting. The only thing I can say about the nomination process is that the SAMA governor believes in me, and I will strive to live up to his expectations.”
On his expectations on the Lindau Meeting on Economic Sciences:
“I am an open minded person and I am looking forward to participate in this culturally-diversified gathering.”
